Senegal has reported its first confirmed case of novel coronavirus infection on Monday. The patient is a 54-year-old French, male, who came to Dakar on an Air Senegal flight after a vacation in France. He began to show fever symptoms two days later and went to a private clinic for treatment.
Some pharmacies in Senegal's capital Dakar say they are short on surgical masks and hand sanitizers, but on the streets residents said panic after the country's first coronavirus case was confirmed did not appear to be great. Lauren Anthony reports.
Senegalese officials are asking the public to remain calm after confirming the country’s first case of coronavirus, or COVID 19. The patient is a Frenchman living in Senegal who returned from a vacation to France on February 26. He had visited Nimes and a ski resort in the French Alps.
